ExternUp is the externship tracker built at a technical college for technical colleges: students clock in at the site, the supervising preceptor confirms the shift from a text or email — no account needed — and instructors see hours, evaluations and credentials in one place.
Three steps, and every one of them leaves a record your program can stand behind.
From their phone. The location is checked against the site's geofence, breaks are tracked, and hours roll up against the program's requirement automatically.
The student sends the shift to the supervising preceptor by email, text, or a QR code at the site. The preceptor confirms presence — or disputes it — from a single-use link. No app, no login, ever.
Per-shift, midterm and final evaluations live in the app. Hours by site or student, placements, and preceptor credentials export as CSV for accreditation.
Rotating programs — students move through many sites and units on a staff-set schedule, and the preceptor changes every shift. Stable programs — one site and one named preceptor for the whole externship, who signs in to verify hours and complete the final evaluation.
ExternUp started at Dixie Technical College in St. George, Utah, replacing CORE ELMS, Platinum Planner, Google Forms and paper timesheets. We're onboarding other Utah schools.
